These Republican presidential candidates will appear on Tennessee's 2024 primary ballot

Nine Republican candidates are certified to appear on Tennessee's 2024 Super Tuesday primary ballot, while President Joe Biden will be the sole Democratic candidate.

Secretary of State Tre Hargett on Tuesday certified the candidates for the March 5 primary.

Which Republican presidential candidates will appear on the ballot?

The Republican candidates include:

  • Ryan Binkley, a businessman and pastor from Texas;

  • Doug Burgum, the governor of North Dakota who suspended his campaign after he was certified in Tennessee;

  • Chris Christie, a former governor of New Jersey;

  • Ron DeSantis, a governor of Florida,

  • Nikki Haley, a former governor of South Carolina;

  • Asa Hutchinson, a former governor of Arkansas and a former U.S. representative;

  • Vivek Ramaswamy, a biotech entrpreneur;

  • David Stuckenberg, a Florida businessman;

  • and Former President Donald J. Trump.

“I encourage these candidates to visit Tennessee and hear the thoughts and concerns of Tennessee voters," Hargett said in a statement. “I believe if these candidates will follow Tennessee’s lead our nation will be stronger for future generations.”

Biden was the ony Democratic candidate confirmed to the ballot.

However, Democratic candidate and Dean Phillips, a congressman from Minnesota, filed a nominating petition seeking ballot access. County election commissions must review his 2,500 signatures to decide if he met the legal threshold to join the Super Tuesday ballot.

What are Tennessee's voter registration deadlines?

Tennessee has one of the earliest voter registration deadlines in the country: You must be registered 30 days before any election. If you're mailing in a voting application, it must be postmarked 30 days in advance of election day.

For the March 5 presidential primary, voter registration will close on Feb. 5.

For the Aug. 1 elections for state and federal primary races, and state and county general races, voter registration closes on July 2.

For the Nov. 5, 2024, federal and state general elections, voter registration closes on Oct. 7.

Super Tuesday early voting

For the presidential primary, early voting ends seven days before the election. Early voting ahead of the March 5 presidential primary will run from Feb. 14 to 27.
