Republican challengers defeat Democratic incumbents in Dover council ward races
DOVER ‒ Republicans swept the ward council races in the city of Dover on Tuesday, with three challengers defeating the Democratic incumbents.
In Dover: A look at the six individuals running for three Dover council ward seats
In Ward 1, Joshua D. Legg defeated Councilman Greg Bair by a vote of 611 to 552, according to unofficial totals from the Tuscarawas County Board of Elections. Legg is a sales consultant for WTUZ Radio.
In Ward 3, Cody J. Jerles ousted Councilwoman Sandy Moss by a vote of 487 to 461. Jerles is a special education teacher.
In Ward 4, Nate Johnson defeated Councilman Robert Mueller, 432 to 280. Johnson is a regional program manager in educational STEM programs.
Ward 2 Councilman Kevin Korns, a Republican, was unopposed. He received 1,172 votes.
Uhrichsville results
There were three contested ward races for Uhrichsville City Council.
In Ward 1, Councilman Matthew Fox, a Democrat, defeated Robert Baker, an independent, by a vote of 136 to 119. In Ward 2, Leigh Ann McCray, a Republican, ousted Councilman Terry Engstrom, winning by a vote of 111 to 54. In Ward 3, Democrat Harold Shamel defeated Councilman Michael R. Huff, Jr., an independent, 120 to 68. Paulette J. Clark, a Democrat, was unopposed in Ward 4. She received 195 votes, according to unofficial totals.
