Who Will Reprise Their Roles for the Long-Awaited 'Tiana' Series?

Princess Tiana's story didn't end down in New Orleans in The Princess and the Frog. The fan-favorite Disney character from the 2009 animated film is coming back for Tiana, a new musical series that was first announced in 2020.

"We are bringing Tiana and her friends back for all new stories in a long-form musical comedy series," Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Chief Creative Officer Jennifer Lee said at the time, adding, "The possibilities are endless with Tiana stepping into her role as princess of a land we have yet to visit and with so much more of New Orleans yet to see."

The animated series, directed by Joyce Sherri—who has also been named the show's lead writer—will be available on Disney+.

What is the Tiana series release date?

Given that it's been years since Tiana was first announced, you could say we're almost thereTiana was originally slated to arrive on the streamer in 2023, but according to Variety, it is now expected to premiere in 2024, which also happens to be the year "Tiana’s Bayou Adventure" is scheduled to open at Magic Kingdom in Florida and Disneyland in California.

What is the Tiana series about?

According to Disney+, the musical series will follow Tiana, the "newly crowned Princess of Maldonia on a new adventure, but her New Orleans past isn’t far behind."

Lee teased in an interview with eCartelera (translated to English) that Tiana "is a new world for her, a new direction and a new voice. I think it's a very good platform to start playing with things that have meant a lot to many of us."

Who is voicing Tiana in the series?

Anika Noni Rose, who voiced Tiana in the Walt Disney Animation Studios film The Princess and the Frog, will once again be lending her voice to the princess.

Rose had expressed interest in revisiting her beloved character prior to the announcement of the Disney+ series. Speaking to ABC Audio (via GMA), the Disney Legend said she would want to see where Tiana "goes now that she opened her restaurant and she's gotten her dream and she is a princess. And Naveen found a way by the end of the movie to recognize what was important in his life and make some changes in there."

So far, only Anika Noni Rose, who voiced Tiana in the Walt Disney Animation Studios film, is confirmed to reprise her role. No other cast has been announced.
