Report: Vanessa Bryant Has Agreed To Settle Helicopter Lawsuit
Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna Bryant, along with seven others, died in a helicopter crash in January of 2020.
Not long after the accident, Bryant’s wife, Vanessa, took action again the helicopter company. She filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Island Express, the company that owned the helicopter.
After a year of negotiations, the Bryant family reportedly agreed to a settlement with the company. According to a report from ESPN, the Bryant family and relatives of the additional victims filed a “settlement agreement notice Tuesday with a federal judge.”
Financial terms of the deal are unknown.

If approved by the court, the settlement would end a negligence and wrongful death lawsuit filed against the estate of the pilot and the owner and operator of the helicopter that crashed into a hillside on Jan. 26, 2020.
According to the original wrongful death suit, Bryant alleged that Island Express “was only allowed to fly under visual flight rules, and the conditions the day of the crash were not conducive for such flying.”
The victims of the crash included Orange Coast College baseball coach John Altobelli, his wife Keri and their daughter Alyssa. As well as Christina Mauser, Sarah Chester and her daughter Payton.
