The NFL hasn’t seen a day without Tom Brady on a roster since he was drafted by the New England Patriots in the sixth round of the 2000 draft.

However, rumors of his impending retirement have grown louder over the past few days. A new report from CBS Sports insider Jason La Canfora suggests he’ll announce his retirement “in the coming days.”

“Numerous sources close to Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady remain convinced that the all-time great is preparing to retire from the game, with a formal announcement expected shortly,” La Canfora reported on Friday night.

CBS Sports said Brady is “preparing to retire” in a video posted on social media as well.

As for when the decision could be announced, La Canfora noted Brady is a “historian” of the league and doesn’t want to upstage the Super Bowl. As a result, his decision could be made in the next few days.

“Several sources who are within Brady’s inner circle anticipate that he will most likely reveal his future plans in the coming days,” La Canfora said. “Brady is a historian of the game, he understands what it takes for players and teams to reach this point in the season, and would not want to upstage the game itself in any way.

After 22 seasons in the NFL, it seems like Tom Brady’s career might be coming to a close. However, until he actually makes the announcement himself, nothing is certain.
