Earlier this week, Tom Brady made headlines with a comment about a team that decided not to pursue him in free agency ahead of the 2020 season.

In his appearance on an episode ofHBO’s The Shop, Brady called out one specific NFL team. “One of the teams, they weren’t interested at the very end. I was thinking, ‘You’re sticking with that motherf–ker?’” Brady said.

After the video came out, fans have been trying to pinpoint who exactly Brady was talking about. From Jimmy Garoppolo to Mitchell Trubisky, fans offered plenty of possible hypotheticals.

However, there is a new quarterback’s name floating around. Boston sports insider James Stewart thinks Tom Brady was talking about the Los Angeles Rams and their decision to stick with Jared Goff.

“The Rams are the team Brady is referencing,” Stewart said on Twitter. “Who couldn’t find a trade partner to take Goff but conveniently found a partner to take Stafford after seeing how well Brady did.”

Goff struggled during the 2020 season as his relationship with head coach Sean McVay deteriorated over the course of the season. Meanwhile, Brady led the Buccaneers to a dominant Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Of course, the Rams later moved on from Goff, trading him to the Detroit Lions for former No. 1 overall pick Matthew Stafford.
