According to the latest reports, the Philadelphia 76ers are interesting in trading away Ben Simmons, but only for a significant return package.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said Wednesday that the 76ers continue to “canvass the league” for a potential Simmons trade, but are carrying “a steep asking price.” Thanks to The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor, we now have a reported idea of what that asking price was.

On “The Mismatch” podcast, O’Connor said the 76ers requested a massive haul from the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for the 25-year-old Simmons.

“There’s so much stuff floating out there right now about the Sixers having outrageous demands like wanting four first-round draft picks, and three pick swaps, and a young player from the Spurs they say now,” O’Connor said, via News 4 San Antonio. “All these deals you hear about are outrageous. Nobody will do it for Ben Simmons.”

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, Simmons was long looked at as part of Philadelphia’s young core.

However, his continued shooting struggles and disappearing act during the 2021 playoffs led to many suggesting the left-handed playmaker would be better off elsewhere. It seems the Sixers are of that opinion, as long as they can obtain premium assets in return.

We’ll see if another team is willing to give those up.
