There’s been one clear frontrunner in the Deebo Samuel trade sweepstakes from the get-go. But as far as the latest trade rumor involving the All-Pro wide receiver, one NFL insider is quickly dismissing it.

According to rumors, the New York Jets offered the San Francisco 49ers a king’s ransom consisting of the No. 10 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, multiple Day 2 picks and wide receiver Elijah Moore. However, NFL insider Matt Lombardo took to Twitter and said there is “no truth” to the rumors.

“I’m told per multiple league sources there is “zero” truth to the #Jets offering any sort of package that included No. 10, No. 35, Elijah Moore, etc. to the #49ers for Deebo Samuel. #NFL,” Lombardo wrote.

Jets fans were extremely skeptical, if not outright dismissive of such a massive offer being made by their team. Many pointed out that Elijah Moore was one of the NFL’s best receivers in the second half of the 2021 season.

To some, trading Moore would defeat the purpose of acquiring Deebo Samuel in the first place.

That being said, there have been other reports that the Jets are “all-in” on acquiring the All-Pro wide receiver. Even if the exact deal rumored isn’t what the Jets might have offered, chances are a bunch of high picks will change hands.

The Jets have not had a bona fide No. 1 wide receiver in years. That’s a big reason they’ve had one of the NFL’s worst offenses of the last decade.

What will it take for the Jets – or any team – to acquire Deebo Samuel?
