The Los Angeles Lakers were very aggressive to kick off free agency, agreeing to terms with four players on Monday. The front office signed Trevor Ariza, Kent Bazemore, Wayne Ellington and Dwight Howard to one-year deals.

Los Angeles didn’t have much money to spend since Anthony Davis, LeBron James and Russell Westbrook take up most of the cap space, but veterans seem willing to join the roster on minimum deals so they can potentially win a title.

There aren’t many intriguing free agents remaining since the market moved very fast on Monday. However, the Lakers reportedly have interest in veteran forward Carmelo Anthony.

ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski broke that news on Tuesday’s edition of Get Up, saying “One more player who they’re trying to sign and could decide as soon as today, Carmelo Anthony.”

Anthony has become a really good role player in the late stages of his career. He averaged 13.4 points per game for the Portland Trail Blazers last season.

In addition to bringing playoff experience to the Lakers, Anthony would give the offense a much-needed weapon from the three-point line. The future Hall of Famer made 40.9 percent of his shots from beyond the arc during the 2020-21 season.

Additionally, Anthony already has experience playing with James and Westbrook. It wouldn’t take him very long to get on the same page with Los Angeles’ stars.

Lakers fans, do you want the team to sign Carmelo Anthony?
