Report: Jaguars Coaches ‘At Odds’ On Trevor Lawrence

The Jaguars look to be questioning Trevor Lawrence’s ability even though he’s still a rookie.

Per NFL insider Jason La Canfora, his development and how to best bring him along has sparked a lot of debate within the Jaguars organization.

It also sounds like there’s been a lot of back-and-forth with the Jaguars coaching staff on how much they should rely on the system Lawrence ran in college at Clemson.

With the Tigers, he ran a lot of RPO’s, something that head coach Urban Meyer hasn’t done a lot of this season.

Lawrence is coming off one of his worst outings of the season against the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday. He went 3-of-14 for 36 yards in the first half and then finished with only 162 yards on 16-of-35 completions.

For the season, Lawrence has just 1,983 yards with eight touchdowns and nine interceptions. He’s also gone two straight games throwing for less than 200 yards and no touchdowns.

He’s going to have to show the organization a lot more down the stretch to make them feel comfortable long-term.

Lawrence will have a shot to bounce back in a big way on Sunday as the San Francisco 49ers come to Jacksonville.

Kickoff is at 1 p.m. ET.
