Despite an ongoing internal dispute with the Houston Texans and some pending legal issues, Deshaun Watson will be reporting to training camp in the days to come. But by all accounts, that doesn’t mean the fences have been mended – quite the opposite.

According to Texans insider Aaron Wilson, Watson is “firm and intentional” in his desire not to play for Houston anymore. Watson has maintained for months that he wants a trade and to leave the Texans organization.

But the Texans don’t seem at all inclined to give Watson what he wants. Per the report, no trade involving Watson is imminent.

Meanwhile, with Watson still embroiled in legal matters ranging from criminal investigations to lawsuits, the Texans have some options as to what they can do with him. Wilson noted that Houston could either excuse Watson themselves or let the NFL decide his fate.

Deshaun Watson is coming off a historic season with the Houston Texans that saw him lead the league in passing yards. But the team went 4-12, firing head coach Bill O’Brien midseason.

In the offseason though, things got dicey. Houston reportedly told Watson they would give him input in their head coaching and GM search, only to make all of their front office decisions without taking his wishes into account.

Watson then made clear his desire to be traded – and he hasn’t moved from that position since.

Soon after, reports of the litigation against Watson began to emerge. Those reports have yet to lead to any criminal charges against Watson or firm decision from the Texans or NFL.

We’re nearing the start of the 2021 season though, so someone is going to have to put their money where their mouth is soon.
