The Green Bay Packers are desperate for a solution to keep Aaron Rodgers in the green and yellow. Per a report from ESPN’s Jeremey Fowler, they may have found one.

There are rumblings throughout the league indicating the Packers may be nearing a solution. It would revolve around giving Rodgers a “one-and-done contract scenario” that would keep the veteran in Green Bay for just one more season. There would then be a cut date or trade in place to send him elsewhere in 2022.

“Asking NFL people for creative Aaron Rodgers solutions, here’s one that came up a few times: A one-and-done contract scenario where Packers agree to cut or trade him by a certain date after season via poison pill, allowing for one more run while promising Rodgers a new start,” Fowler said on Twitter.

Take a look.

The only issue here is Aaron Rodgers wants to be moved now, not in 2022. But if there are guarantees in place, perhaps it would be enough to convince Rodgers to play one more year in Green Bay.

The Packers, in the meantime, are moving forward with second-year quarterback Jordan Love. Reports out of training camp are positive, and indicate Love is starting to show promise.

Love will eventually get a shot at being the Packers’ new franchise quarterback. But Green Bay is still prioritizing persuading Rodgers to return. We’ll have to wait and see if those efforts pay off.
