Rep. Lauren Boebert’s Shooters eatery has closed down

Shooters has been shuttered.

The gun-themed eatery run by Colorado Representative Lauren Boebert is no longer in business. Shooters Grill closed after the building’s landlord declined to renew Boebert’s lease, according to the Colorado Sun. The restaurant, located in the town of Rifle, was best known for its pistol-packing servers, who literally carried firearms on their hips.

Boebert described the staff as being “like a family.” The far-right wing politician’s actual family made headlines in December by posing in front of a Christmas tree, armed to the teeth. All four of her children are holding rifles in the photo.

Shooters’ operating license was suspended in May 2020 after Boebert defied her state’s pandemic restrictions. Boebert’s culinary practices also made headlines in 2017 when, according to the Daily Beast, dozens of people got food poisoning at a rodeo catered by her “unlicensed temporary retail food establishment.”

Boebert, a staunch conspiracy theorist, is up for reelection in November. She is running against Democrat Alex Walker, who in February, ran an ad showing cow manure falling from the sky.

“Colorado needs a bull, not a bullsh---er,” he said in that ad.

Boebert won a GOP primary in June, where she raised nearly $4 million more than the $226,000 her opponent collected. The hardline conservative is a Donald Trump loyalist who heckled President Biden during his State of the Union address in March. She’s currently making the rounds on right-wing TV to promote her book “My American Life,” which hit shelves Tuesday.

One of the issues she addresses in her memoir, according to Fox News, is a 2004 incident where her husband Jayson was accused of exposing himself to a minor in a bowling alley.

“Instead of fighting for his innocence in court, Jayson took a plea deal, which resulted in him having a permanent criminal record,” she said.

Boebert, who was 17, was reportedly in attendance when her future husband — then 24 years old — was thrown out of Rifle’s Fireside Lane. She said he got a bad rap because he didn’t have a lawyer.

Both Boeberts are reportedly praying to keep the Shooters brand alive in a new location.
