Referees hand Kevin Keatts a technical foul in NC State-Duke 2024 NCAA Tournament

The frustration of one missed call in a March Madness game, especially the Elite Eight, can lead to high-level emotions being shown. Even more so when a trip to the Final Four is on the line.

At the 8:03 mark of the second half of Saturday's Elite Eight game, NC State coach Kevin Keatts was tabbed with a technical foul for unsportsmanlike conduct after the officials called a loose ball out on the Wolfpack, instead of the the Blue Devils. Keatts was not afraid to show his displeasure with the call, which led him to exit the coaching box and eventually receive the technical.

Following the call in the game, CBS broadcaster Bill Bill Raftery showed his dismay on the broadcast about the technical on Keatts, given the position and timing of it during the game.

According to The Athletic's CJ Moore, Keatts was told by one of the officials, Doug Sirmons, that he gave an initial warning for being as far out of the coaches' box as he was.
