Reese Witherspoon and Husband Jim Toth Announce Their Divorce
Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth, her husband of almost 12 years, announced today that they are divorcing. Witherspoon shared the joint statement on her Instagram, writing:
We have some personal news to share... It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together.
Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter. These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone's respect for our family's privacy at this time.
Witherspoon and Toth share one son together, 10-year-old Tennessee. Witherspoon has two other children, 23-year-old daughter Ava and 19-year-old son Deacon, with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe. A source gave more details on the split to People, maintaining that Witherspoon and Toth do remain on good terms.
“They really are the best of friends and this is such an amicable decision,” the source said. “They are so committed to co-parenting together. They are invested in their whole family and making this as smooth as possible for everyone.” TMZ's sources also confirmed that the pair are ending their romantic relationship amicably.
Toth and Witherspoon started dating in early 2010; they went public with their relationship in March 2o10. They got married a year later on March 26, 2011, at Witherspoon's ranch estate in Ojai, CA.
Witherspoon most recently celebrated Toth and his birthday this past July, posting a tribute to her Instagram. The couple has otherwise kept their relationship largely private.
