Reese Brownlee, Braedin Zondervan voted the Register's Iowa Ortho Athletes of the Week

Clear Lake girls track and field athlete Reese Brownlee and Carlisle boys track and field athlete Braedin Zondervan were voted the Des Moines Register's Iowa Ortho female and male Athlete of the Week winners for the week of April 8-14.

Brownlee dominated the female Athlete of the Week voting with 85% of the vote. Gilbert girls golfer Eden Lohrbach took second.

Brownlee ran the fastest 400-meter hurdle time in Iowa for high school girls track during the Hannover Relays in Algona April 9.

Brownlee clocked in at 1:01.95 to win the 400 hurdles by over 11 seconds.

Zondervan easily won the male Athlete of the Week after receiving 76% of the vote. Dowling Catholic boys track and field thrower Nathan Rotherham took second.

Zondervan turned in an impressive performance in the 400-meter dash for the Carlisle boys track and field team Saturday at the Jim Duncan Invitational in Des Moines.

Zondervan won the boys open 400 in 47.75 seconds. His time was nearly two seconds faster than the runner-up effort by Dowling Catholic's Travis Lembechwa.
