Every home cook knows that personal preferences play a huge role in making even the simplest recipes, like scrambled eggs or chocolate chip cookies. While some might prefer their cookies crispy and others soft, there's truly no right or wrong way to make something... that is, of course, unless we're talking about Ree Drummond's cinnamon toast! In the case of crispy, buttery, cinnamon-sugar toast, it's Ree's way or the highway.

Ree carries a go-with-the-flow attitude for many things, but this staple sweet breakfast recipe isn't one of them—and "studies" prove it! The Pioneer Woman shared her "cinnamon toast study" to her blog years ago, testing four different cinnamon toast recipes to prove that hers is the best of the best. Coming in first place was her foolproof recipe of making a cinnamon sugar spread complete with a secret ingredient—Mexican vanilla—before baking it in the oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.

Many years later, Ree's signature cinnamon toast remains a staple in her home, which she has reminded us of on Instagram again and again! “Cinnamon toast!!! 😍,” she captioned a recent step-by-step video tutorial on how to make the simple snack. Although the way she makes it in the Instagram Reel is slightly different than her original blog post, the results look just as crunchy and delicious.

While Ree was adamant about the importance of putting the cinnamon-sugar mixture on the buttered toast before baking it in her blog post, her new approach calls for a slight adjustment. Instead of using softened butter, she dips the bread in melted butter, then dunks it in cinnamon-sugar before baking. After a quick broil, the toast gets an extra sprinkle of cinnamon-sugar!

"Very buttery, caramelized cinnamon toast with an extra dusting of cinnamon sugar," she captioned the post. "Basically: Dunk, sprinkle, bake, broil, sprinkle, slice, and eat."

It's sort of like a combination of Approach #1 and Approach #4 from her original experiment. So there you have it: tigers can change their stripes (or at least compromise on when to put cinnamon sugar spread on toast for breakfast).
