Red Lobster at 655 Jefferson Road in Henrietta shut down abruptly Monday, May 13.

The seafood restaurant’s telephone number no longer works, its web page has been deleted, and on Monday evening, the business was locked and dark, and the parking lot was empty.

According to the company’s website, the closure is temporary.

However, on Tuesday, CNN reported that at least 48 Red Lobster restaurants nationwide had shuttered and that TAGeX Brands was conducting an online auction of Red Lobster assets, including kitchen equipment, furniture, tables and chairs.

TAGeX One’s announcement stated that participating auction locations, including in Henrietta — which had been in business since the mid-1970s — are now closed.

Red Lobster at 1515 W. Ridge Road, Greece, remains open.

The company did not respond to a request for more information.

In April, Bloomberg News reported that the restaurant chain was considering filing for bankruptcy protection.
