The Truly Texan podcast is back from holiday break with an episode featuring Dimitri Staszewski, an Austin-based photographer who received a cancer diagnosis a year into documenting a friend's cancer journey.

The friend, Thomas Mann, has been a part of Staszewski's life since he was a child, as both Mann and Staszewski's father were craft jewelers. They're basically like family, which is why Mann asked the young Staszewski to create a photobook following his cancer treatment process.

When Staszewski was diagnosed with cancer a year into the project, he had to apply the lessons he'd learned from Mann's journey to himself and also examine the photo project from a new perspective.
