The 'Rebel Moon—Part Two' Trailer is a Whirlwind Clay Enos - Netflix

In the trailer for Netflix’s latest sci-fi adventure, Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver, Nobel rises from the dead and confronts Kora once again. “Tell me what we’re trying to achieve here,” he says. “The same thing as the last time we met,” Kora responds. “I kill you.”

Well, that might not be so easy. In Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver, Kora (Sofia Boutella) and her people will have to fight twice as hard to overcome the tyrannical Mother World. Now that Nobel is back, he’ll surely do everything in his power to keep Kora at a distance. Or worse, kill her. Thankfully, we don’t have to wait too long to see what happens next. Rebel Moon Part Two premieres on April 19th.

If all this intergalactic fighting sounds familiar, it’s because Rebel Moon, which comes from the mind of Zack Snyder, was almost a Star Wars film. The Justice League director pitched it to Lucasfilm over a decade ago, but the studio turned it down. Eventually, Snyder rewrote the film as an original franchise. That's why—under all of Rebel Moon's sci-fi jargon and rapid planet-hopping—it feels like a reimagined film from the galaxy far, far away. But Snyder couldn't contain all of the action in just one film, which is why Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver is set to quickly follow in the spring.

From here on we'll dive into spoiler territory, so steer clear of the following info on Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver until you've seen Part One.

What Happens in Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire?

After the tyrannical Atticus Noble (Ed Skrein) threatens to conquer and exploit Kora's simple farming town, the former Imperium commander reveals her true identity to her friends and declares that she will find allies to help them fight back. On her travels with a fellow farmer named Gunnar (Michiel Huisman), she recruits a Dungeons & Dragons-esque party of Kai (Charlie Hunnam), a mercenary and starship pilot; Tarak (Slaz Nair), a ripped blacksmith and animal whisperer; Nemesis (Doona Bae), a cyborg and dual-wielding sword master; Titus (Djimon Hounsou), a former Imperium general; and Darrian Bloodaxe (Ray Fischer), the leader of a prominent insurgent group.

In a third-act twist, Kai betrays the group and sells out their location to Atticus. A climactic fight ensues, with Kara and her friends temporarily defeating Atticus and his guard. However, Darrian Bloodaxe is killed in the process. But as our heroes return home victorious, all is not as it seems. Atticus is reborn Darth Vader-style by the Imperium. They may have won the battle, but there's still the war. All the while, a former Imperium robot named Jimmy (Anthony Hopkins) has been contemplating his existence back at the farming village. Could he fill in as our new seventh team member in Part Two?

What Will Go Down in Rebel Moon—Part Two: The Scargiver?

"The truth is that movie one is a set-up for movie two," Snyder teased in an interview with Comicbook.com. "The end is a crazy cliffhanger that launches you into The Scargiver." That cliffhanger, of course, is Atticus's resurrection. "In Part One we spend a lot of time in the village, having this real relationship to the place and people," Snyder continued. "So that when we actually have to fight and die for them, we care about them."

Following Part One, Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver is scheduled to hit Netflix on April 19, 2024. Snyder also plans to release two Director's cuts of Part One and Part Two, which will add an hour of additional footage to each film. "There are big chunks of the movie that are different," he said. "A lot more stuff is fleshed out."
