The 2024 golf season is up and running with players teeing up and enjoying the fairways and greens—and the pleasant April weather. So, dust off your golf clubs and get ready to hit the links!
Here’s a handy guide to help you prepare and know more about the golf courses in the Greater Gardner area.
Gardner Municipal Golf Course
Location: 152 Eaton Street, Gardner
Established: 1936

Course Info: Par 71: Blue tee yardage: 6,131; White: 5,857, Gold: 4,798; Red: 5,524.
Daily Rates: Weekdays: 9-holes $20, 18 holes $37; Weekends: 9 holes $24, 18 holes $42 (Rates are for walking; carts require an added charge)

Tournament Time: It all began back in 1948 when Leo Menne won the first Delay Memorial Tournament at GMGC. The tradition continues in late May over the Memorial Day Weekend when the 77th annual Delay championship will be held. Bill Wilson, a six-time Delay champion who won by 10 shots last year with rounds of 75-70-74, will defend his title.
Templewood Golf Course

Longest holes from the tips: Hole Number 1, a 545-yard par 5 downhill with a light dogleg left to a narrow green. Long hitters can reach the green in two shots, but club selection is key. Hole Number 18, a monster 583-yard uphill par 5 with a hazard on the right off the tee. An extra club is usually needed on the approach shot to the two-tiered green protected by two bunkers on the left side.
Westminster Country Club

Notable Hole: Mass Golf recently selected WCC’s 250-yard 12th hole among the longest of par 3 holes in the state. “Prepare for a thrilling challenge,” states the description on the Mass Golf website. “The 12th is a narrow hole requiring over 200 yards of carry with bunkers on each side of the green. A few of the tall pines on the right create a shoot feel from the tee. And the green isn’t easy as pin placement can be front, middle, and back to add another level to the hole.”
The Woods of Westminster

New for 2024: Tee areas have been expanded on many holes. “Drop-in” Leagues are now an option on Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Twenty refurbished motorized carts have been added to the fleet, now totaling 90. And, in the pro shop and around the course, say hello to “Rusty the Red Lab,” a lovable young pup, whose exploits have garnered thousands of views on Instagram and Tik Tok.
