Ready for Galentine's Day? 5 fun ways to celebrate in Rhode Island

Your girl gang, your posse, your ride-or-dies bring all the love you need this season of romance, so it’s time to get some good sisterly fun on the calendar.

Galentine’s Day is officially Feb. 13, but who can compact all the fun you have with your friends into one day? We’ve gathered a few ideas that should ignite the sisterhood and leave you feeling loved.

Hoist a giant espresso martini

Espresso martinis are having a moment in Newport, where people are driving distances to treat themselves to the giant espresso martini at Wally’s Wieners (wallyswieners.com). Located at 464 Thames St., Wally’s has at least 10 flavored martinis on the menu at all times, but you’ll need a friend or two to try the giant. It’s six martinis in one glass, carrying about 12 shots of espresso. Pair it with some of their gourmet hotdogs or other comfort food options.

British-style cheer at afternoon tea

Afternoon teais a British custom, but Sweet Marie's Tea Cottage (sweetmariestea.com), at 25 W. Main St. in North Kingstown's historic Wickford Village, gives you the full experience in Rhode Island. With crisp linens, elegant tiered trays and beautiful china, you and your pals can enjoy tea and a variety of dainty treats such as finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, macarons, cupcakes and truffles. The cost is $32 per person, with wine, cocktails and mocktails available for an additional charge. Tea is served Sundays at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday at noon and 2 p.m.

You can also enjoy a special Galentine’s Tea on Feb. 11 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., at the Hotel Viking, One Bellevue Ave., Newport (hotelviking.com). The hotel team will teach you how to select the perfect loose tea and then prepare it tableside. Nibble on house-baked scones, petit fours and finger sandwiches. The cost is $59 per person, which includes a glass of sparkling wine. Champagne and cocktails are also available for extra.

Bad romance? Try some rage room therapy

If you’re coming off a bad break-up or just have some pent-up frustration, take the crew to Smash ‘n' Splash, 289 Cowesett Ave., West Warwick (smashnsplashri.com) for some raging. The state’s first rage room offers you the chance to smash everything from TVs to dishes, while your choice of music plays. Screaming is optional. You can also head into the glow paint room, where you can paint, squirt, splatter and shoot glow paint onto canvas, the walls or your friends. Smashing starts at $55 per person (discount if you bring your own items to smash), and splashing starts at $25 per person.

Kick up your boots with some country line dancing

There’s country line dancing every day at Mishnock Barn, 200 Mishnock Road, West Greenwich (mishnockbarn.com), but beginner’s nights are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Lessons start at 7:30 p.m., and you’ll soon be gliding and twirling to the steps of “California Blue,” “Look What God Gave Her” and “Life is a Rodeo” on the Barn’s three large floating dance floors. They recommend footwear that allows you to move smoothly.

Pamper yourselves with a spa day

Say spaaaaaah. The water journey experience at Bodhi Day Spa, 186 Broadway, Providence, and 654 Thames St., Newport (thebodhispa.com) is good for your health and spirit. Based on the healing properties of hydrotherapy, the journey includes rotating dips in a pair of mineral-rich pools, eucalyptus steam room, detoxifying infrared sauna, traditional Finnish dry sauna and cold plunge, all designed to leave you feeling revitalized. While guests can only whisper while in the spa area, it’s an unforgettable experience for you and your galentines. The cost is $55 for 60 minutes or $85 for 2.5 hours. Reservations are required.
