Voting for the Mansfield News Journal Female Athlete of the Week is now open.

Here are your nominees.

HERE COMES GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL? Spring football season not to be sponsored by OHSAA, girls flag football is emerging

*Lexington’s Makaree Chapman allowed one run on five hits with nine strikeouts while also adding two hits and an RBI in Lady Lex’s 7-1 district championship win over Clear Fork.

*Shelby’s Madison Henkel won the Division II district long jump title with a leap of 17' 5" and helped the 4x100 relay team win the district title.

*Shelby’s Princess Timko won the Division II district championship in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.62 and helped the 4x100 relay team win the district title.

*Lexington’s Emily Thomas won the Division II district championship in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 45.88, the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.06 and anchored the 4X200 relay team to the district title.

*Lexington’s Elyana Weaver won the Division II high jump championship with a leap of 5' 2".

*Madison’s Nevaeh Lewis won the Division I district championship in the 100-meter dash (12.06), 200-meter dash (25.32) and anchored the victorious 4x100 relay (49.53) and 4x400 relay (4:04.17).

Voting ends at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Last week's Mansfield News Journal Female Athlete of the Week winner was Shelby's Princess Timko who piled up 5,781 votes.
