GRAND CHUTE — Johnson Financial Group is building a new bank and office location at 4120 N. Galaxy Drive in Grand Chute, north of Meijer and Interstate 41.

The company broke ground on the 9,700-square-foot facility Friday. It's expected to be completed by the end of the year, with employees moving in around New Year's, according to Bruce Zak, regional president.

As it opens, Johnson Financial Group will relocate its Appleton team from 222 W. College Ave. to the Grand Chute location. U.S. Venture Inc. plans to move its headquarters into the 222 Building, so this "gives them full flexibility to do what they want," Zak said, "while we're relocating here to a new office for our team."

Johnson Financial Group is not eliminating jobs with the move, according to Zak. Rather, he said, it will provide an opportunity to add more.

It's because of the company's continued growth in the area, Zak said, that Johnson Financial Group decided to construct the new stand-alone location, where people can access a range of services, from consumer to commercial banking, under one roof.

“It's just showing that we continue to have a greater impact here, and we need to be able to continue to build out the team to do that," he said.

The Grand Chute location will be "easily accessible" off I-41, according to Zak, with drive-thru services. It will also have "a state-of-the-art cash bar," which Zak described as "an ATM on steroids." Essentially, the technology "replaces a traditional teller line experience," allowing people to complete more transactions themselves, as bankers "make stronger connections with our clients," according to the company.

Bayland Buildings, Inc., said in a February news release that it is the construction manager for the project, in partnership with The Redmond Company.
