Lady Gaga is reportedly the new face of Versace
According to WWD, Versace has tapped Gaga to star in its upcoming spring campaign, which the trade claims has already been shot in London by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
The news isn't exactly surprising and far from the first instance of Gaga and Versace working together: Back in 2011, the House opened up vintage its archives for her to wear in her "Edge of Glory" video - the first time it had done so for any music vid. Versace also created all of the costumes for Gaga's Born This Way Ball tour - and one time, Gaga dressed up like Donatella Versace, took off her top, and then hung out with the actual Donatella Versace. As one does.
As for Mert & Marcus, Gaga worked with the photog duo on both of her Vogue cover shoots.
Should the reports prove correct, Alas and Piggott better take a heed of caution when editing the images. At Glamour's 2013 Women of the Year Awards Monday night, Gaga slammed the magazine for over-perfecting her visage on its December cover.
"I felt my skin looked too perfect. I felt my hair looked too soft," she told the crowd (via Huffington Post). "It is fair to write about [the beauty ideal changing] in your magazines. But what I want to see is the change on your covers... When the covers change, that's when culture changes."
The Lady doth protest - but she doth have a point. Versace couldn't be reached at press time to confirm the new campaign.
