Kate Middleton was on hand to help unveil her first official portrait in London and the reaction has been ... interesting.

According to ABC News, the artist Paul Emsley painted Kate against his trademark black background with a slight smile framed by her gorgeous brown hair. Following the unveiling, the reaction was underwhelming. The social feeds immediately picked up the story and from the harshest of critics to the satirical tweets, needless to say, everyone had an opinion.

The silver-lining of the entire unveiling? Kate looked tres chic! Photographed in maroon 'Sophia-Rae' dress from Whistles, Autumn 2011 collection. The Duchess looked radiant with her hair blown out and simple jewelry. She was simply glowing!
