Emma Watson is All Grown Up on the Cover of W Magazine
Emma Watson is All Grown Up on the cover of W Magazine's June/July issue, dishing on her past as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series (starting at the ripe old age of 9) to her future in film including Sofia Coppola's The Bling Ring. Bringing to life the beloved role of Hermione is a difficult task of its own accord, but Emma also mastered the art of breaking out, not allowing herself to be typecast.
On her role in The Bling Ring -- playing a character who is an aspiring actress and part-time thief -- Emma said "Nicki is so different from me. How do I try and understand a young woman who loves these things so much that she is prepared to commit crimes to have them?...With Nicki, I was really taking on a character. Some of her lines are so crazy and absurd-making sure she wasn't a parody was a challenge."
Many children who grow up in the spotlight struggle with fame and its pressure to grow up. Emma talks candidly about her youth, and it becomes clear why she's unaffected by what can sometimes be the "curse" of being a child star. She told W, "I've never wanted to grow up too fast: I wanted to wear a sportsbra until I was 22! The allure of being sexy never really held any excitement for me. I've never been in a terrible rush to be seen as a woman."
We love Emma for her penchant for minidresses and classic style, and how at age 23, she has a very level head on her shoulders. Emma's W cover will hit newsstands on May 21, 2013.
