Diane von Furstenberg to launch a reality show in search of an 'Elite Brand Ambassador'
Instead of trying to find the next big designer or model, von Furstenberg is looking to fill the all-important role of a "brand ambassador" in her "transformational docu-series for the millennial fashionista," as described by a casting flyer that landed in our inbox yesterday.
Indeed, a "brand ambassador" is certainly a millennial career. And one that, we'll admit, we have no idea how to get, unless you're already a celebrity or an It Girl. Here's what the show is looking for: They've put out a call for "all smart and driven fashionistas who appear to be 20-25 and are interested in learning the ins and outs of the fashion industry from one of America's most legendary fashion icons." Nope, you don't have to actually be 20-25. You just have to look like you are. Also, apparently I'm almost too old to be a brand ambassador. Sad.
Details are scarce at this point, but the casting producer told us the show, which is currently being referred to as the "DVF DocuSeries," will air on a "major cable network that anyone who is into entertainment and fashion will know." It's being produced by Electus, the same company that does Fashion Star and Mob Wives. They plan to shoot for 6 to 8 weeks in the spring of next year. Contestants on the show will be "trained as brand ambassadors" and compensated. Applicants must be interested in fashion, but there are no requirements in terms of education or work experience.
Like all reality TV shows, this could turn out really good - see Kell On Earth and Project Runway in the beginning - or really bad, like Fashion Star was...always. We love von Furstenberg, and are hoping for the best. Plus, we just genuinely want to know what a brand ambassador does.
Interested in the gig? See the flyer below for deets on how to apply.
