Colbie Caillat goes without makeup for bold and inspiring new video
Colbie Caillat's new single, "Try", isn't just a catchy and infectious pop hit on iTunes -- it also happens to carry a really important message for women. Colbie penned the song alongside Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, who encouraged her to voice her frustration over the mounting pressure she was feeling as a woman working in the entertainment industry. What pressure, exactly? Well, it's one we all feel to some extent. It's pressure to do our hair and makeup every day, to buy the right clothes, and to look our absolute best.
Written over a year ago, the song is a message about self-acceptance and just, simply put, not trying so hard all the time. Colbie, along with a few lip-syncing co-stars, reveals powerful images of herself with and without makeup, telling listeners that "you don't have to try so hard", and that it's OK to be who you are and look like your natural self.
It's a really powerful message to keep in mind, especially as summer hits, and no one wants to be chafing under tight clothing or sweating under layers of makeup. Colbie is reminding us to feel comfortable in our own skin and to be confident in our natural beauty. We couldn't agree more.
