Ask the Guys: "Are There Nail Colors That Turn Men Off?"
Our friends at Mandatory are here once again to answer your questions for the guys that you might be too shy to ask. This week, they're giving us the dos and don'ts when it comes to our manicures.
ARE THERE ANY NAIL COLORS THAT TURN MEN OFF? WHAT COLORS SHOULD WOMEN WEAR FOR A DATE, AND WHICH COLORS SHOULD THEY AVOID?
I'm going to provide you with a very shocking revelation: nails are not a big deal for guys. We probably won't even notice any subtle changes without you pointing it out to us first. It's just how we're wired. Personally, I would say the only nail color that really actually bothers me is the color your nail turns if you slam it in a door. In fact, it would probably be really difficult to turn a guy off based on nail color alone. Out of anything on the list that you should be worried about, nails really shouldn't be one. The benefit is that you can do whatever you want to your nails that makes you happy and not really have to worry about what we might think about it.
That being said there are certain nail styles that I would say the majority of us could probably do without. It's best to stay away from the overly long, creepy nails. There's a reason Edward Scissorhands was forced to live in solitude. Also, excessive designs with rhinestones and stickers are probably a bad idea if you're over the age of 12. The same goes for those dangling charms that some women drill into their nails. The only charms we are okay with are marshmallow and mixed in a box of our favorite cereal.
Basically, as long as you take good general care of your nails and hands, have at it with the colors. Bonus points for making them the colors of our favorite team come football season.
