3.1 Phillip Lim for Target: It's Happening
The fall collection will consist of 100 items for both men and women including apparel, shoes, bags and travel accessories. It ranges in price from $19.99 to $299.99 for apparel and $19.99 to $59.99 for accessories–which we're betting (well, hoping) will be really good.
"Since an early age, I've been intrigued by the idea of design evolution," said Phillip Lim in a release. "One of the reasons I wanted to collaborate with Target is because I felt that together we could create a collection that would inspire – one that is cool and chic, but still very accessible."
According to the Wall Street Journal, Lim was initially hesitant to work with the mass retailer–he called it a "courtship for five years."
"For us, a little tiny brand, there's a lot more at stake working with Target," he said. This time, he felt he had enough success on his own to do it. "I wanted to go in and say, 'I don't need to do this, but I would like to."
We're glad he finally caved–responses to Target collaborations have been mixed lately, but we have a good feeling about Lim.
And while collaborations with other retailers and fashion personalities (Neiman Marcus,Kate Young) can be fun, it's these collections with true design talents like Phillip Lim that we really get excited about.
The collection will hit stores and online September 15 (how much you wanna bet a big fashion week party is involved?).
