Ranking college baseball teams in order of their latest odds to win College World Series

The college baseball season is well underway at this point. That said, there is still plenty of time for an underappreciated team to make a push for the College World Series (CWS) just 84 days away.

Arkansas currently sits atop the USA Today Coaches Poll and has held that spot ever since the Razorbacks snatched it away from Wake Forest in Week 4. Outside of Arkansas, the other teams that started the year at the top of the rankings have taken quite a tumble. Wake Forest has fallen all the way to 22nd and are the only team in the top-25 with double-digit losses, aside from Florida. LSU has fallen as well, from as high as second, to now 18th with an 11-spot drop since last week's poll, after suffering a sweep at Arkansas' hands.

As those teams have fallen though, others have experienced meteoric rises, such as Dallas Baptist, which has climbed from outside the top-25 to start the year to eighth in the latest polls. Kentucky only received five votes total during the first poll, but now sit comfortably at No. 16.

Although there is still much of the season left to play, now is when the CWS contenders really start to stand out. Every team has had an opportunity to find their groove. It's only a matter of maintaining it until the end of the season now.

College baseball power rankings: Week 7

1) Arkansas (+700)

Arkansas has been on an absolute tear all season, but have picked it up even more as of late, having won four straight and 19 of their last 20. Their only loss in that stretch came in an 8-6 loss on March 23 to Auburn. The Razorbacks didn't waste much time stuck on that loss though. The team bounced back to sweep LSU. Arkansas' Peyton Stovall went 7-for-13 over the weekend with two doubles and a home run.

2) Wake Forest (+1000)

As mentioned earlier, Wake Forest has taken quite the tumble since being atop the college baseball world at the start of the year. Several people don't consider the Demon Deacons even a top-25 team anymore. That said, Wake Forest still has immense talent in guys like Jack Winnay and Adam Tellier. The Demon Deacons haven't found their footing quite yet, but they could be dangerous if their pitching can get back on track. Wake Forest's staff currently holds a 5.29 ERA.

T-3) Florida (+1200)

This was a very up-and-down week for Florida, who saw their in-state rivals, the Florida State Seminoles clinch the season series for the first time since 2015. The Gators managed to secure a series win against Mississippi State thanks to a pair of walk-off wins. The Gators, despite being one of only two teams ranked in the top-25 of the coaches poll with double-digit losses, are still considered one of the most fearsome teams in college baseball. That should say enough regarding how talented they are.

T-3) Tennessee (+1200)

With first baseman Blake Burke hitting the 40th home run of his career this week, the Volunteers continued their dominant stretch of play at home with a 3-1 record this past week.

T-3) LSU (+1200)

Despite being near the top of power rankings at the start of the season, LSU has fallen drastically since dropping three straight SEC series, including a sweep at the hands of Arkansas most recently. Still, LSU has what it takes to compete with the best of the best, and the talent to go on a hot streak at any point during the season.

When is the 2024 College World Series?

The 2024 college baseball postseason will begin with regional matchups on May 31. Those matchups will carry on until June 3. Super regionals will run between June 7 and June 10.

College World Series games will begin June 14 with the finals starting on June 22, running until June 23 or 24 depending on if a third game is necessary to determine a winner.
