These rank as the best new restaurants in the Triangle. Here’s why Yelp users love them

Dozens of Triangle restaurants opened their doors over the past two years — and customers can’t get enough of them.

Now, they rank among the region’s best new restaurants, according to results the review website Yelp shared with McClatchy News on Wednesday, Dec. 28.

To create the list of top places to eat, Yelp said it considered restaurants that launched in 2021 or 2022 and garnered several reviews containing the words “new” and “opened.” It then “ranked those spots using a number of factors, including the total volume and ratings of reviews.”

The restaurants were divided into five geographical categories: those that serve customers in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary and the “Greater NC Triangle,” defined as suburban towns such as Apex, Garner, Fuquay-Varina, Holly Springs, Morrisville and Wake Forest.

Midtown Pho in the Raleigh category:

  • When it opened: July 2021

  • Where it is: 424 E. Six Forks Road, Raleigh

  • What it serves: Vietnamese food, including bánh mi sandwiches and the noodle dish pho

  • Why Yelp users are fans: Customer service and the family’s pho recipe

  • Yelp’s runner-up: Lime & Lemon Indian Grill & Bar

Momo’s Master in the Chapel Hill category:

  • When it opened: November 2021, per WCHL

  • Where it is: 110 N. Columbia St., Chapel Hill

  • What it serves: Himalayan foods, including filled dumplings called momos

  • Why Yelp users are fans: Flavorful dishes at affordable prices

Seoul Garden in the Cary category:

  • When it opened: around January 2021, per Yelp users

  • Where it is: 815 W. Chatham St., Cary

  • What it serves: Korean food

Sushi Suyu in the Greater Triangle category:

The results were released as The News & Observer readers voted a French-inspired bistro called Bluebird the Triangle’s best new restaurant of 2022. The Chapel Hill eatery rose to the top of the list after 7,400 votes were cast in a reader poll.
