From the moment ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news back in April that Aaron Rodgers wanted out Green Bay, some questioned whether or not Rodgers even wanted to play football anymore. According to Randall Cobb, retirement was, indeed, a possibility for Rodgers.

Cobb revealed during a press conference on Thursday that he thinks Rodgers only considered returning to the Packers or retiring. Another team wasn’t ever an option based on the conversations he had with the 2020-21 NFL MVP during the offseason.

“I think the only thing that could’ve been different is him retiring. That was a real thing, from our conversations,” Cobb said on Thursday, via NFL reporter Albert Breer.

This is interesting. All we heard all offseason were rumblings about where Rodgers wanted to play. From the sound of it, he was only considering Green Bay.

If Aaron Rodgers wasn’t considering playing for another team this offseason, will anything change during the 2022 offseason? That’s the next major question surrounding the reigning NFL MVP.

Rodgers and the Packers reportedly have an agreement in place that would allow Rodgers the freedom to play wherever he’d like after this season. Why would that agreement be in place unless Rodgers was considering other teams beyond this upcoming season?

Regardless, Randall Cobb clearly believes Rodgers never considered this offseason playing for another team. According to Cobb, the veteran quarterback would have retired before leaving the Packers.
