Randall Cobb went from arguably the worst team in the NFL to a Super Bowl contender all because of one trade.

On Wednesday, the Green Bay Packers finalized a deal with the Houston Texans to acquire Cobb. The Packers sent a 2022 sixth-round pick to the Texans for Cobb. Houston had to pay $3 million of Cobb’s salary to make the deal work.

During his introductory press conference on Thursday afternoon, Cobb admit that he’s extremely happy to be back with the Packers. However, his comments might not sit well with the Texans’ organization.

“I can breathe again,” Cobb told reporters. “I’ve seen the other side, and I’m excited to be back here and I’m smiling. It’s funny my teammates said you act like you just got out of prison.”

Cobb then explained why he can “breathe again,” as he compared Green Bay to a Fortune 500 company.

“That’s nothing against Houston. Whenever I talk about that, I’m thinking of … Green Bay’s like a Fortune 500 company and the Texans like a new franchise; they’re a startup that’s figuring out their way. I think that the moves that they made when they brought [Nick] Caserio in and coach [David] Culley, I think that they’re on a path. I think they have a plan in place. I saw a lot of things changing over the past four months that I was there. I’ve been rehabbing the entire offseason, so I saw all the different changes. I know they’re doing right. They’re trending in the right direction.”

NFL fans can’t really fault Cobb for reacting this way. At this stage in his career, he rather be on a proven winner than a team in rebuilding mode.

In his only season with the Texans, Cobb had 38 catches for 441 yards and three touchdowns. He missed six games due to injury.

Cobb could add another element to Green Bay’s offense this fall, especially if he’s on the same page with Aaron Rodgers.
