Raiders vs. Steelers NFL Week 16 prediction: Preview, odds and injury report

AP

Now what for the Las Vegas Raiders?

After a dramatic 30-24 win last week, thanks to Chandler Jones’ fumble return for a touchdown, the Raiders remain in the hunt for the playoffs.

Next up is a trip to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers at 5:15 p.m. Saturday.

It’s another game the Raiders must win to stay alive and they’ll have to do it in freezing weather. The temperature at kickoff is expected to be 7 degrees.

The Raiders and Steelers are both 6-8, making it an elimination game, of sorts, with just two more games remaining after this.

It is also the 50th anniversary of the Immaculate Reception, when the ball wound up in the hands of Franco Harris off a ricochet and he went in to score the game-winning touchdown.

Harris died Tuesday. He was 72.

This is the first of three tough games for the Raiders to close out the regular season.

After the Steelers, it’ll be the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs at Allegiant Stadium.

There could be a heavy dose this week of Josh Jacobs and the rest of the Raiders’ running backs.

The defense also will need to put pressure on Pittsburgh QB Kenny Pickett if Las Vegas wants to come away with a win.

Injury report

The Raiders list G Alex Bars (knee), T Jackson Barton (back), DT Andrew Billings (fibula), LB Darien Butler (quadriceps), G Dylan Parham (knee) and RB Zamir White (ankle) as questionable. CB Rock Ya-Sin (knee) was ruled out.

The Steelers list WR Diontae Johbnson (toe), S Terrell Edmunds (hamstring) and LB Myles Jack (groin) as questionable.

Line and over/under

The Raiders are 2.5-point underdogs by FanDuel. The over/under is 38.5.

How to watch the game

The game will be shown on NFL Network.

Quick analysis

The Raiders blew another big lead against the Patriots, only this time they came away winners. ... If the Raiders get a quick lead Saturday, it may be time to get conservative and lean on the running game because Derek Carr hasn’t fared too well in cold-weather conditions. ... Carr is 0-6 when the weather is below 37 degrees. Those are bad numbers for the quarterback, so he figures to need a lot of help not only from Jacobs but from the defense. ... This game could be a low-scoring one, which could bode well for Raiders K Daniel Carlson to decide things.

Prediction: Raiders 16, Steelers 13
