Raiders vs Cardinals: Predictions, picks and odds for NFL Week 2 at Allegiant Stadium

Miscues hurt any Raiders chances at winning the season-opening NFL game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Raiders squandered chances after chances and couldn’t overcome an early deficit in a 24-19 loss, although they had a chance to win the game before the Chargers stopped those hopes late in the fourth quarter near midfield.

Raiders QB Derek Carr threw three interceptions and was sacked five times, but he’ll look to bounce back against the Cardinals at 1:25 p.m. Sunday.

History is working on Carr’s side as he threw for 2 touchdowns vs. 0 interceptions for 100.5 rating in a 23-21 victory against Arizona in 2018. He is aiming for his fourth game in a row with no interceptions versus the NFC West.

It’s just not Carr who has a good history against NFC teams.

Wide receiver Davante Adams is going for his fifth straight game in a row against the NFC West with at least 75+ receiving yards. In his last game against Arizona in 2018, he had eight receptions for 93 yards and a touchdown. Adams said he will be excited for this game since his grandparents will see him play in his first NFL game.

Other Raiders having success against NFC teams lately: RB Josh Jacobs has rush TD in 4 of his past 5 vs. NFC; WR Hunter Renfrow looking for his third in a row vs. NFC with 100+ receiving yards.

Raiders DE Chandler Jones will face his former teammates and will aim for fifth in a row vs. NFC West with a sack and fourth in a row with a forced fumble. He finished with an Arizona record 71.5 sacks in six seasons (2016-21).

Raiders DE Maxx Crosby will look to add a tackle for loss in five straight games at home and three sacks in a row.

The Cardinals are coming off a 44-21 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Arizona, however, is led by QB Kyler Murray who is always dangerous. Cardinals added former Raiders cornerback Travyon Mullen Jr. in a trade prior to the season.

Analysis

The Raiders are home for the first time this season (never mind the preseason since Carr, Adams and many others didn’t play). ... That’s already a big boost for the Raiders, which finished their home slate last season with a win over the Chargers. ... The Raiders know they blew their chances against Los Angeles last week. ... Crosby and Jones never got to the quarterback, although Crosby led the team in pressures. What matters to fans is getting sacks and interceptions. Neither happened, but it needs to happen against Murray. ... The interior group needs to get home to bother Murray and make it hard on him. ... The Raiders are capable of doing that. ... Speaking of capable, the Raiders offense needs to put up more than 19 points to show the nation what the offense can do with Adams. ... There are plenty of weapons for Carr, but the concern is the offensive line since he was sacked five times. .. The Bee thinks Carr will lead his team to a win.

Prediction: Raiders 37, Cardinals 23
