Raiders star Davante Adams makes a major upgrade – and his beloved grandma is benefiting

It is always family first for Las Vegas Raiders star wide receiver Davante Adams.

That was the case in July when the former Fresno State star went back to his roots in East Palo Alto in July to see his grandmother, Bettie, whom he calls “Baby.”

The former Fresno State star always has credited his grandparents, especially his grandmother, Bettie, for getting him to where he is now.

Now he wanted to return the favor by surprising his grandma with a major renovation of her house.

And it was all caught on cameras as part of an episode of ‘Secret Celebrity Renovation.’

“The happiest that I’ve ever been has been doing things like that for other people, whether it’s somebody I know or I don’t know, Adams said. “My grandma has hit me up probably like five times since (the recording of the show). Like I can see her smiling through the phone.”

In excerpts of the show, host Nischelle Turner gave Adams a call and asked him if there was someone he would like to do something for who helped him shape his life.

Adams quickly responded with “grandma.”

“That’s my grandma, that’s the one,” Adams told Turner. “She was like a second mom to me. Both of my parents were in my life, but without my grandma and grandpa, God knows where I would be.

“Biggest support system. We all grew up in that house in East Palo Alto.”

Adams starred for East Palo High before earning a scholarship to play at Fresno State.

Three years later, Adams was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft.

During the renovation episode, Turner notices “Raiders Drive” posted on her house.

Adams said his grandmother knew they were going to do something on the house for her, but no idea it was a remodel.

The show provided The Bee pictures of the process of remodeling that took about two weeks to finish, with well ... Adams’ assistance.

To watch the full reaction of Adams’ grandma and the house transformation, that specific episode of ‘Secret Celebrity Renovation’ will air at 8 p.m. PDT Friday on CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+.
