Rachel Zegler's upcoming animated feature Spellbound has found a new home at Netflix.

The movie was originally part of a deal between Skydance Animation and Apple TV+, but it is understood the agreement came to an end. The animation studio has now inked a new deal with Netflix to develop and produce animated films to go directly on the streamer (via Deadline).

Set to premiere in 2024, Spellbound is directed by Shrek's Vicky Jenson and will be the first feature in Netflix's animated slate with Skydance. It is to be followed by Pookoo, expected to have a 2o25 release.

Zegler voices Spellbound's protagonist Ellian, a courageous princess who must go on a quest to save her family and kingdom when her parents, the King and Queen of Lumbria, are transformed into monsters.

The West Side Story star is part of a star-studded cast, including Nicole Kidman, Javier Bardem, John Lithgow, Jenifer Lewis, Nathan Lane and Tituss Burgess.

As for Pookoo, the buddy comedy centres on the unlikely friendship between a small woodland creature and a majestic bird, two natural sworn enemies of The Valley, that magically trade places and set off on an epic adventure.

The film is directed by Nathan Greno (Tangled, Tangled Ever After), but no word yet as to who will be part of the cast.

Skydance Animation has more projects up its sleeve, including Ray Gunn, helmed by Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Ratatouille, The Iron Giant), and an untitled Jack and the Beanstalk movie directed by Rich Moore (Zootopia, Wreck-It Ralph).

As for Zegler, she's set to appear in the lead role in the hotly-anticipated prequel of The Hunger Games, titled The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, to be released in cinemas on November 17.
