R.I.P., Billy Miller: GH, Y&R Stars Pay Tribute to Beloved Soap Vet

The soap world is mourning Billy Miller in the wake of the Young and the Restless and General Hospital vet’s death at the age of 43.

“I am devastated to hear news of the incredibly talented Billy Miller’s passing,” GH’s executive producer Frank Valentini posted on X (fka Twitter). “On behalf of the entire [General Hospital] family, our hearts go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.”

In a statement to TVLine, GH vet Anthony Geary — who retired from acting in 2015 — said, “I was sad to learn of Billy Miller’s passing. He was a gifted actor and dynamic personality. Although our time together was brief, it was a complete pleasure to work with Billy on GH, and to call him my friend. My condolences to his mother, family, friends and fans.”

“I’m so sad to hear of Billy Miller’s passing,” Y&R‘s Eileen Davidson posted on X. “His infectious charm and warmth left lasting impressions on all of us who were lucky enough to have him in our lives. Im gonna miss that mischievous smile. Love you Billy.”

Ex-Y&R star Stephen Nichols, AKA Days of Our Lives‘ Patch, also remembered his former co-star on X. “I had a lot of love and respect for Billy Miller,” he wrote. “We had some good times on Y&R. His untimely death is a great loss. Love to his family and all who loved him.”

GH alum William DeVry also offered his own condolences on X: “I’m very sorry to hear of the passing of [Billy]. You had much to offer.”

Miller, who died amid a long battle with bipolar disorder, entered the daytime arena in 2007 when he joined the cast of All My Children as Richie Novak. A two-year stint on the ABC soap paved the way for his breakout role as Young and the Restless‘ Billy Abbott. He was the fourth actor to play Billy on CBS’ top-rated drama but he more than made the role his own. To wit, during his six years on the show (2008-14), he won three Daytime Emmys (two for Outstanding Supporting Actor and one for Outstanding Lead Actor).

In 2014, Miller jumped to GH, where he took over the role of Jason Morgan/Drew Cain from Steve Burton. He left the ABC soap in 2019.

Miller’s primetime credits included guest stints on CSI: NY, Justified, Ringer, Major Crimes, Suits and Ray Donovan. He also recurred in the first season of the Apple TV+ drama Truth Be Told as the husband of Lizzy Caplan’s Lanie.
