Five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers is taking his talents to Columbus much earlier than expected.

Ewers made a bombshell decision on Monday when he announced he’s skipping his senior year of high school. The elite prospect will enroll at Ohio State this summer and be eligible to play for the Buckeyes this fall. Talk about a whirlwind.

Ewers took to Twitter on Monday to discuss his massive decision. He mentioned how both the financial and football aspects played a role in his decision.

“…I’ve decided it’s time for me to enroll at Ohio State and begin my career as a Buckeye,” Ewers said on Twitter.

“This is not just a financial decision; this is about what is best for my football career. At 18, and with one final class about to be completed to earn my high-school degree, I feel it’s time to get the jump on my college career that is available to me. I am eager to start learning from Coach Day and the rest of the coaching staff.”

So what does this mean for the Ohio State Buckeyes? Let’s just say their quarterback competition just became much more interesting.

Ryan Day has to replace Justin Fields. C.J. Stroud has been the leader in the clubhouse so far. He has an edge over the remaining competition, including Ewers. But we’re not going to rule out the five star just yet.

Ewers is one of the more polished high-school quarterback prospects in recent recruiting history. He’s more than capable of giving Stroud a run for his money.

Ohio State’s quarterback competition will be one of the best in college football ahead of the 2021 season.
