Queenie gets first-look trailer ahead of Channel 4 release
Hulu has unveiled a first trailer for new drama series Queenie, ahead of its Channel 4 release next month.
Based on Candice Carty-Williams' best-selling novel of the same name, the eight-part series follows the complicated life of a Jamaican British woman living in south London.
"When viewers meet the titular Queenie Jenkins (Dionne Brown), she's straddling two cultures and failing to fit into either neatly," reads the official synopsis for the series.
"Plus, she's dealing with a messy breakup with her long-term boyfriend and is seeking comfort in all the wrong places. Eventually, she begins to realise she has to face the past head-on before she can rebuild."

The new trailer sees Queenie try to adjust to life after her break-up by moving in with her grandmother. Newly single and ready to make new memories, Queenie then embarks on a life of partying with her friends, where she encounters a new set of challenges.
"I can't not be a strong black woman, that's the problem for girls like me," she admits. "I'm going to change the world, that's what I'm here to do."
Directed by Joelle Mae David, the series also stars singer Bellah as Queenie's childhood friend Kyazike and Angela Black actor Samuel Adewunmi, who will play Frank — Kyazike's older cousin and Queenie's "intellectual match".
EastEnders and You star Tilly Keeper, Love Island's Laura Whitmore, Fate: The Winx Saga's Elisha Applebaum and Doctor Who's Edward Harrison also feature in the drama series.

In an interview with Deadline earlier this year, Carty-Williams, who serves as showrunner and executive producer on the show, explained the process of adapting her novel for the small screen.
"There was an idea of what [the writers] wanted to do with Queenie and for me it was like, 'What?'" she said.
"Of course it's really important to adapt to the times and what's going on but I'm never going to change my characters to adapt to what a group of people are telling me someone I created years ago should do."
Queenie will premiere on June 7 on Hulu in the US and Channel 4 in the UK.
