Queen Elizabeth’s funeral: How to watch on TV, stream online in the US

We have details on how to watch the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, who died at Balmoral Castle in the Scottish Highlands on Thursday, Sept. 8.

The State Funeral will be televised across the globe, and she will be laid to rest at King George VI Memorial Chapel at Windsor.

Here’s what to know about when the funeral takes place and how to watch it on TV or stream it online.

When is Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral?

Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday, Sept. 19, Buckingham Palace announced.

Before the funeral, the Queen was at rest for 24 hours in St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh, Scotland, on Monday, Sept. 12, so that the people of Scotland can pay their respects.

The Queen returned to London on Sept. 13 and begin lying in state at Westminster Hall starting Wednesday, Sept. 14.

What time will the funeral and coverage begin?

The funeral itself will begin at 11 BST, which is 6 a.m. ET.

Coverage begins hours before the actual funeral.

The funeral will last for one hour, with a two-minute silence at the end.

How to watch the funeral on TV in the U.S.

All major broadcast and cable news networks will air the funeral live, with coverage start times varying. Times here are all Eastern. Most networks continue coverage until noon on Monday. (Note: This story has been updated with the most recently available info from networks as of Sunday evening.)

ABC, CBS and NBC will begin coverage at 5:30 a.m.

CNN coverage will start at 4 a.m.

PBS, BBC World News, BBC America, MSNBC, Fox News coverage starts at 3 a.m.

CNN Headline News and Bloomberg TV News coverage starts at 5 a.m.

C-SPAN will begin their live coverage at 5:30 a.m. ET

How to stream U.S. and UK coverage of the funeral online

News networks in the United States will stream the funeral online and on their respective mobile apps.

UK coverage (some accessible only in the UK):

The BBC will air coverage from 8 am BST until 5 pm BST on BBC One, BBC News and BBC iPlayer. BritBox subscribers (including those in the US) can can also access the funeral through the BBC’s live stream.

ITV and ITV Hub will broadcast on all of its channels and on ITV Hub from 9.30 a.m. BST.
