Queen Elizabeth’s dog Vulcan dies, leaving pup-loving monarch with only 1 pooch

One of Queen Elizabeth’s final two dogs, Vulcan, has died.

Vulcan, a corgi-dachshund mix known as a “dorgi,” died at Windsor Castle, People reported. The Queen and Prince Philip have spent most of the pandemic at the castle.

The 94-year-old monarch now has just one living pet, another dorgi named Candy. She has previously said she doesn’t plan to add any more pups to her life, for fear of leaving one behind.

Vulcan made a star turn alongside Candy and two royal corgis, Willow and Holly, on the cover of Vanity Fair in 2016. The Queen was also on the cover.

Willow, the last of the Queen’s beloved corgis, died in 2018. Holly died two years earlier, just months after her cover appearance.

Queen Elizabeth famously adored the short-legged pooches ever since she received one as a gift for her 18th birthday.
