If you binge-watched all six episodes of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, you're not alone. The Bridgerton prequel tells the story of the early days of King George III and Queen Charlotte's marriage, and provides backstories for Lady Agatha Danbury and Violet Bridgerton (née Ledger).

Notably, the show provides an origin story for Charlotte and Agatha's friendship. "We've got the love story, but we've also got the platonic love story, and that's so important as well," star India Amarteifio, who plays young Queen Charlotte, tells Town & Country. "Charlotte wouldn't be who she was without Agatha; she wouldn't feel as empowered to make the choices she makes. or want to make the changes that she goes on to make without her. It's so crucial that we see that happen so early on."

She adds, "You understand in Queen Charlotte how Agatha has such power in Bridgerton: Because of Charlotte's complete trust in her, and immediate understanding of another person in society that doesn't fit in."

While we know Bridgerton season three is definitely in the works—it likely already wrapped filming, and will hopefully premiere later this year—there's no clues on whether or not Queen Charlotte will return for a second season. Future seasons of Charlotte could continue to explore Charlotte and George's marriage, as well as Charlotte and Agatha's friendship, or even the early years of Violet Ledger, and how she falls for Edmund Bridgerton. Amarteifio is game to return, saying, "I would absolutely love to do something in the realm again."

Shonda Rhimes said she's not ruling out a second season. "There have been questions, but I'm not having conversations about it yet," she told Entertainment Weekly. "I could live with Charlotte and George forever, but we told a very specific, closed-ended story that I think is a complete tale of this complicated, imperfect love. But I'm not ruling anything out because I never know."

Netflix has already committed to a season four of Bridgerton, and Rhimes has said she wants to make "eight Bridgerton seasons" for all eight Bridgerton siblings. Time will only tell what that means for Queen Charlotte.

We'll update this as soon as we learn more about the possibility of Queen Charlotte season two.
