Meet Queen Camilla's Coronation Ladies in Attendance
Queen Camilla will has two Ladies in Attendance at the coronation: Her sister, Annabel Elliot, and her longtime friend (and current Queen's companion), Lady Lansdowne, are by her side on the big day. For the coronation, the two ladies wore matching white gowns.
The inclusion of her sister makes the coronation a decidedly family affair for Camilla: Her grandsons, Freddy Parker Bowles and Gus and Louis Lopes, along with her grand-nephew (Annabel's grandson) Arthur Elliot, will be her pages.
Annabel, Camilla's younger sister, is an interior designer and antiquities dealer. The sisters are very close, though Annabel has stayed out of the spotlight.
Fiona Shelburne—full name Fiona Mary Petty-Fitzmaurice, Marchioness of Lansdowne—is a longtime friend of Camilla, and one of her six "Queen's Companions" (Camilla doesn't have Ladies-in-Waiting). "The role of Queen’s Companion will be to support The Queen Consort in some of her key official and State duties, in addition to her Private Secretary/Deputy Private Secretary," Buckingham Palace announced last year.
Lady Lansdowne recently gave an interview to the Sunday Times about Camilla and the coronation, where she said, "She is fiercely loyal to friends and that will be reflected in who goes to the big day. She wants to be loyal to the people who’ve stood by her."
Queen Camilla's decision to have just two "Ladies in Attendance" is a nod to the scaled-back coronation. At the coronation of Queen Elizabeth, Elizabeth had six maids of honor who carried her train and accompanied her throughout the ceremony. They all wore white Norman Hartnell gowns and tiaras:
While Annabel and Fiona were not in tiaras, they were in matching white dresses.
