QB-WR duos dominate Nashville area Small Class boys athlete of week choices

It’s time to crown another La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries Small Class boys athlete of the week. There were big Nashville area football performances as the TSSAA football playoffs began.

The candidates are below. Voting will close Thursday at noon.

Mitchell Carey, DCA: Carey was 17-of-26 passing for 395 yards and five TDs in a 65-14 rout of Mt. Juliet Christian.

Carter Hackman, DCA: Hackman had four catches for 177 yards and reeled in three touchdowns.

Elijah Fearns, Eagleville: Fearns had five catches for 132 yards and two TDs to help the Eagles beat West Carroll 37-6 in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs.

Brody McLemore, Eagleville: McLemore was 8-of-9 passing for 151 yards and three TDs passes. He also had eight carries for 79 yards.

Isaiah Groves, East Robertson: Groves had 10 carries for 177 yards with two TDs in a 42-0 mercy rule win over Cascade in the opening round of the Class 2A playoffs.

Kamauri Turner, Giles County: Turner rushed for two touchdowns and caught seven passes for 96 yards and a score in 34-0 win over Brainerd in the Class 3A playoffs first round.

Brian Rager, Liberty Creek: Rager was 12-of-17 passing for 214 yards and had four TDs to lead Liberty Creek to its first TSSAA playoff win, a 42-0 rout of Sycamore.

Dylan Mitchell, Liberty Creek: Mitchell reeled in five catches for 101 yards and a TD.

Keller Morey, Moore County: Morey had three catches for 99 yards and a TD in a 48-0 rout of Houston County in the Class 1A football playoffs.

Dawson White, Moore County: White was 8-of-9 passing for 264 yards with five touchdowns for Moore County (11-0). He also ran for 48 yards.

Ethan Madewell, Smith County: He rushed for 191 yards and two TDs on 18 carries in a 40-14 win over Forrest to begin the Class 2A playoffs.

Justyce Law, Stratford: Law was 10-of-17 passing for 159 yards and three touchdowns in a 58-42 victory over White House Heritage in the Class 3A playoffs first round. He also rushed for 157 yards on 15 carries.

Quortez Gilbert-Duncan, Stratford: He rushed for 187 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries against White House Heritage.

Riylin Miller, York Institute: Miller had 12 carries for 185 yards and three TDs in the Dragons' 61-7 rout of Eagleton.
