Pursuit of success: Case track and field star signs on board with D1 Stonehill College

Hannah Santos is one of the most decorated athletes to ever step foot inside Joseph Case High School.

Whether it was winning medals or filling in for different track and field events, Santos did everything with a smile.

Now, the talented Cardinal star is bring her talents to higher levels.

Santos recently signed a national letter of intent in front of family and school officials to continue her track and field career at Division I Stonehill College.

Santos will be under the direction of Skyhawks head coach Michael Delgado, who helped lead Stonehill to a Northeast-10 championship in 2020.

Santos was the South Coast Conference high jump champion as a junior with a school record leap of 5'3." In her first season as a hurdler, Santos went 4-1 in league action to take third at the SCC championship and qualified for the Division V State Meet.

The Cardinals have not lost a dual meet with Santos in the lineup since the 2019-20 season. Over winter and spring track combined in the last four years, Case has a daunting mark of 23-1. The Cardinals finished the winter season last season 5-0 for the second straight year and won back-to-back South Coast Conference Gold Division titles.

Santos followed up the winter campaign with another great spring season where she named the SCC Most Valuable Player as well as league champion in the high and triple jump.

Other feats by the three-time Case captain includes a four-time SCC all-star, a three time team Most Valuable Player, school record holder in the high jump both indoor/outdoor, a three-time league champion in the high jump and two-time champion in the triple jump. Santos also qualified for New Englands in the high school as a sophomore and qualified and competed at Nike Indoor Nationals in New York as a junior.

Even with all the medals and accolades accumulated during her high school career, there is a human side to Hannah Santos. The Case senior track and field star also found the time to lend a hand to younger and less experience teammates.

"Hannah is an elite athlete, who has been an excellent representative for our school at a number of prestigious events," Cardinals head coach Robert Mitchell said. "Despite her pursuit of success she always finds the time to help [out]. I wish her nothing but the best at the next level."
