Publix is open on Presidents’ Day. What about public services in Miami, Fort Lauderdale?
There’s a holiday coming up and half the people in your workplace may be asking: “Are we off that day?” Whether you are or not, the supermarkets, big box stores and malls are open. Money doesn’t stop for this holiday.
So, Monday, Presidents’ Day, you’ll have the normal Monday amount of time to make your Publix, Sedano’s, Costco, Sawgrass, Whatever runs.
As for everything else in the Miami and Fort Lauderdale area, here is a rundown:
Mass transit
Miami-Dade: Regular weekday service for Metrobus, Metrorail and Metromover.
Broward: Regular weekday service.
Tri-Rail: Regular weekday schedule.
Garbage pickup
Miami: Regular pickup.
Miami-Dade: Regular pickup.
Fort Lauderdale: Regular pickup
Broward: Regular pickup for garbage, bulk and recycling.
For the situation in other municipalities, check with your city.
Bank branches
The Federal Reserve Bank is closed, so your bank branch is likely closed. One exception is TD Bank, which says its branches will be open Monday.
U.S. Mail
No mail pickup, delivery, or post office branches open.
Stock markets
New York Stock Exchange: Closed.
NASDAQ: Closed.
Courts/county offices
Miami-Dade: Courts will be open, county offices will be closed.
Broward: Courts will be open, county offices will be closed.
Libraries
Miami-Dade: Brick-and-mortar locations closed, but the online catalog is like 7-Eleven and Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce — always open.
Broward: Closed, other than Nova Southeastern University’s Alvin Sherman Library, Research and Information Technology Center. The online catalog, as in Miami-Dade, remains open throughout the holiday.
