PSL double-header in Rawalpindi called off because of rain

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan (AP) — Two-time defending champion Lahore Qalandars finally got their first point in the Pakistan Super League after rain disrupted the country's premier T20 tournament on Saturday.

Both Lahore and Peshawar Zalmi got one point each after the umpire called the game off at 4 p.m. because of heavy rain in Rawalpindi.

The evening game between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators was also scrapped and both teams got a point.

Lahore has lost six straight games in the absence of key Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan, who was ruled out before the tournament because of a back injury.

Fast bowler Haris Rauf dislocated his shoulder last Saturday during Lahore’s home game against Karachi Kings while opening batter Fakhar Zaman is yet to fire in the tournament.

Peshawar, led by the tournament’s leading scorer Babar Azam (330 runs), won three straight games before coming into the Rawalpindi leg of the event.

Peshawar has seven points after six matches and is behind table-topper Multan Sultans (10 points) and Quetta (9 points). Islamabad are at No. 3 with five points from six games.
